Tools and preparation
- Tape measure, string line, level and marking tools.
- Tools and materials required by the confirmed post-foundation detail.
- The complete kit, extra end posts and compatible finishing components.
- Safe handling equipment and suitable protection for the work.
The Status Composite Woodgrain fencing kit creates a listed 1.8m-wide, 6ft-high fencing section. Each kit includes one post, so plan the full run before deciding how many kits and extra posts to order.
This guide explains the assembly sequence in the kit's existing instructions. Post foundations, spacing, ground conditions and site exposure require a suitable project-specific specification. A 2.4m post length is not an instruction for a particular hole depth or an exact finished height above ground.
Check what the kit includes
- One 2.4m post.
- 12 woodgrain slats, listed as 150mm high.
- Black top and bottom rails.
- Black top and bottom caps.
- One finishing strip.
Review the selected Woodgrain fencing kit before ordering. Do not use the contents of this kit as the specification for the separate flat or slatted co-extrusion kits.
1. Plan all the sections and posts
Draw the complete boundary and mark ends, corners, gates, walls and changes in level. Work out the post positions using the approved set-out dimensions for this system. A nominal panel width alone is not enough to set the clear gap or post centres.
For a simple new straight run of three sections sharing intermediate posts, the layout normally has four posts. Three kits supply three posts, so the example needs one suitable extra end post. Corners, gates and existing structures can change the count and the post specification.
Check the selected option in the Fencing End Post Kit before adding it. See our kits versus slats guide for a fuller ordering checklist.
2. Confirm and install the posts
The existing Woodgrain kit instructions describe setting the posts plumb in suitable holes, concreting them in place and allowing the footings to cure fully. Confirm the required foundation dimensions, ground suitability, post spacing and concrete specification for the location before starting.
Check for underground services before excavation and resolve the boundary layout first. Do not begin fitting panels to posts that are unstable or to footings that have not reached the required condition.
3. Fit the bottom components
Fit the bottom rail and bottom cap components in the arrangement specified for the kit. Check the rail is correctly seated and level before loading it with the slats. Confirm that the post channels and clear opening match the selected system.
4. Stack the woodgrain slats
Insert the slats one at a time, checking that each sits neatly in the intended position. Keep reviewing alignment as the section builds upwards. Do not force components that do not fit; check the board, rail and post references before continuing.
If a section needs cutting or a different height, obtain the appropriate detail for that arrangement before altering the parts. The standard kit contents do not establish that every modified layout is suitable.
5. Fit the top rail, caps and finishing strip
After the final slat is installed, fit and secure the top rail according to the system instructions. Fit the top cap and finishing strip in their specified positions. Check the full section and repeat the sequence for the remaining bays, including the extra post needed to complete the run.
6. Check the completed fence
Review the alignment, support, fixing security and finish of every bay. Make sure the agreed gaps and component positions have been maintained. Keep your order details and fitting information so any later replacement can be matched to the installed system.
Can I use existing concrete posts?
That is a separate compatibility check, not the same installation as setting the supplied posts. Read our guide to existing concrete posts and confirm the condition, groove dimensions, opening width, channels and support components before buying.

Keep these with your order
