Identify the panel
| Product | Listed size | Planning check |
|---|---|---|
| Decorative screen panel | 600 × 1,800 × 6mm | Confirm its frame or mounting arrangement. |
| Decorative fence panel | 1,800 × 300 × 18mm | Confirm the matching fence posts, channels and support rails. |
Decorative screening does not establish a load-bearing structure or a protective balustrade. Use it only with a support and fixing detail suitable for the panel, exposure and location.
1. Plan the position and support
Measure the available opening and draw the panel orientation, edges and surrounding posts or wall. Allow for the movement and fixing clearances specified for the exact product. Confirm that the supporting surface is sound and suitable for the intended mounting method.
An outdoor screen can be exposed to wind. The size of the decorative openings does not establish the required post or wall fixing. Have the support arrangement checked for the location.
2. Assemble the right parts and tools
- Chosen panel design and quantity.
- Compatible frame, posts, channels, brackets or rails, as required by the approved detail.
- Fasteners specified for both the panel and supporting material.
- Tape measure, level, marking tools and a suitable drill or driver.
- Appropriate handling and tool protection; use suitable access equipment where needed.
3. Fit a tall screen panel
Check the panel against the opening before making any alterations. Set out the frame or mounting points to the product instructions, check alignment and secure the supports first. Fit the panel using the specified holes, clearances and fasteners. Do not force it into a tight opening or over-tighten the fixings.
Confirm whether cutting or additional drilling is permitted for your selected panel before modifying it.
4. Fit a decorative fence insert
Check the insert is compatible with the existing fence system. Confirm how the lower fence boards, supporting rail, decorative panel and upper finishing parts fit together. A decorative insert may need its own supporting rail and brackets; it should not be treated as a direct replacement for an ordinary board without that detail.
Use the matching system drawing to determine board count, rail position, clearances and fixings. The tall 6mm screen and the 18mm fence insert do not share an assumed fitting method.
5. Finish and inspect
- Check the frame or posts, panel edges and every connection.
- Confirm the specified movement allowance remains available.
- Remove drilling debris and protect the surface during surrounding work.
- Recheck after severe weather; arrange repair if supports or fixings become loose.
